The sales of mobile handsets in Russia hit 11.4 million units in Q3 2011

Sales of mobile handsets in Russia reached approximately 11.4 million units in Q3 2011, which is 15% more than in the third quarter of the previous year based on the data of MTS, the country’s leading mobile operator. The market increased in value by 10% year on year to RUB 47bn (€1.17bn) in Q3 2011. The average price of mobile handsets fell down by 5% on a yearly basis to RUB 4,137 (€103) in Q3 2011 and became one of the drivers of market growth.

In 2011, the Russian mobile handsets market is expected to grow to 40-41 million units, while in value the sales could reach RUB 174bn (€4.3bn).
