Roskosmos to introduce the Internet in space


2010-06-23

Roskosmos has plans to apply the use of information technologies in space by creating a single information system, Kosmonet. The company is planning to create a global information system environment on the ground, in the air and in space. The project will focus on the creation of a new generation radio channel and a new satellite system for setting up a space internet facility. This new technology project is estimated to take three years and require RUB 20bn ($631m) in funding, according to ITAR-TASS.
