Kaliningrad to become the first digital TV region


2010-06-28

The Kaliningrad region is set to become the first region in Russia to have a digital television network, according to the Minister of Communications, Igor Shchegolev, who revealed the news during his meeting with the PM, Vladimir Putin. Kaliningrad has a well-developed TV signal network and is well-equipped to become an exemplar region for quality digital television. Digital TV in other regions of the country is planned to be launched by the end of 2010. By 2012 its coverage will include the Far East of the country.
