X5 Retail Group launches virtual mobile operator project

X5 Retail Group, the largest Russian grocery retailer, has launched a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) using Mobilnye TeleSistemy’s (MTS) infrastructure. The company expects to have at least 500,000 registered users within the next three years.
MTS has allocated one million phone numbers for this project, 100,000 of which are available for purchase in Perekrestok and Karusel stores (chains owned by X5) in Moscow and the Moscow Province.
